Privacy Policy
Last updated: 22 October 2026
1. Who we are
Coetzee Publishing Ltd, company number 16526370, registered in England and Wales, is responsible for your personal data (the “controller” under UK and EU data protection law). Our South African affiliate, Coetzee Publishing (Pty) Ltd, registration number 2012/188952/07, processes personal data for us to deliver our services and support. Our Information Officer under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) is Charl Coetzee, contactable at info@coetzeepublishing.com.
2. What this policy covers
This policy covers coetzeepublishing.com, charlcoetzee.com, worshipguitarskills.com, guitarskills.com and our other Sites, our courses, memberships and communities, our agency services, and our emails and calls.
3. What we collect
- What you give us: name, email, phone number, business name, billing address, login details, messages, survey and quiz answers, community posts, and videos you send us.
- Payments: Stripe processes your payments. We see limited card details, such as the last four digits and expiry date, and never your full card number.
- Automatically: IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, referring page, and whether you open or click our emails, collected through cookies and similar tools.
- Calls and live sessions: recordings of agency calls and WGS live sessions.
- Agency clients: business details, access to your platforms, and the content you give us, including any personal data in it.
- From others: social platforms when you interact with us there, and our payment processor.
4. How we use it
| Purpose | Legal basis |
|---|---|
| Provide courses, memberships and services, and run your account | Contract |
| Take payments and prevent fraud | Contract and legitimate interests |
| Support and service emails | Contract |
| Marketing emails | Consent, or legitimate interests for existing customers where the law allows. You can unsubscribe at any time. |
| Analytics to improve the Sites | Legitimate interests, and consent for non-essential cookies |
| Advertising and retargeting | Consent |
| Record calls and live sessions | Legitimate interests, and contract where a recording is part of a deliverable |
| Tax, accounting and legal duties | Legal obligation |
Under POPIA, we rely on the same grounds: your consent, performing our contract with you, legal obligations, and our or your legitimate interests.
5. Agency client data
When we handle personal data inside a client’s materials, such as a subscriber list or audience comments, we do so for the client and only on their instructions. In legal terms we are the client’s processor (an “operator” under POPIA). The client is responsible for having a lawful basis and giving any notices to the people concerned. We are the controller of our clients’ own contact and billing details.
6. Who we share it with
We share personal data only as needed to run our business, with:
- our South African affiliate, and contractors such as editors and designers who are bound by confidentiality;
- service providers that process data for us (below);
- professional advisers, such as accountants and lawyers;
- authorities, where the law requires it;
- a buyer or successor, if our business is sold or restructured.
We do not sell your personal data.

We work from South Africa and the UK, and many of our providers are based in the US. When personal data moves between countries, we rely on lawful safeguards, such as adequacy decisions, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or contracts that give the protection POPIA requires.
8. How long we keep it
| Data | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Customer and billing records | Up to 7 years, as tax and company law requires |

9. Security
We use access controls, two-factor authentication and reputable providers that encrypt data. No system is completely secure. If a breach puts your data at risk, we will tell you and the regulator where the law requires.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of your personal data;
- correct it;
- delete it;
- restrict or object to how we use it, including objecting to direct marketing at any time;
- send it to you or another provider in a usable format;
- withdraw consent you have given.
Email info@coetzeepublishing.com to make a request. We may need to confirm your identity, and we reply within one month. If you live in a US state with a privacy law that applies to us, you can make the same requests.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, please contact us first. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk), South Africa’s Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za), or the data protection authority in your EU country.
